Ordered a book from Amazon today, expect a dip in my productivity

Oct 26, 2005 1 min.

I remembered that the 11th book in the Wheel of Time series, Knife of Dreams, was coming out sometime in October so I checked for it on Amazon today and it turns out it came out on the 19th. So (despite being fairly busy and having a real problem with reading non-stop through every single book I get the moment it shows up) I ordered it. Maybe I can get it in time for my trip down to DevConnections in Las Vegas in November, then I can read it on the plane and in the hotel, it would help keep me out of trouble.

Have you heard about SoloSub?

Oct 26, 2005 1 min.

I was considering adding one (or more) of the many aggregator-buttons (subscribe to this feed in newsgator, add this feed to your MSN start page, etc.) when I found this, one button that handles all of the most popular aggregators through a single link. Check out http://solosub.com for more info…

Lots of folks interested in the free Xbox 360 link…

Oct 25, 2005 1 min.

For the last few weeks I’ve had a graphic and link to a ‘free Xbox 360’ site up as a banner on my blog pages, and it has received a lot of clicks (and 12 or so sign-ups, although no one has completed an offer yet…). I’m guessing that with the difficulty of obtaining a pre-order at this close to the release, the idea of a free Xbox 360 is pretty appealing.

Added Atom support to the FlairMaker… my version at least

Oct 23, 2005 1 min.

Nick, from “The Coding Monkey” mentioned that he would like to see Atom support in the FlairMaker, so … having no real reason not to, and having an extra 15 minutes after the kids went to sleep before I started cleaning up the house, I added it… Of course, I’ve just added this to my forked version of Kent’s original code… so any feature I add that he likes will need to manually added into his version… bad software development practice, but hey we’re just playing around here so you should be expecting too much.

Ok, so I’m doing work for Murach’s marketing dept… but it is free content!

Neil Enns of the MSBuild team has released the first of a series of posts about how MSBuild works within Visual Studio, how VS projects are used by MSBuild and basically everything you’d want to know about how the two systems interact. You can check out all the entries here, in order from most recent to oldest, as they are posted.

Following in Kent’s footsteps, like usual :)

Oct 15, 2005 1 min.

Kent’s flair was cool… so I made my own, using his code of course, but targetting whatever feed you want… check out the source of this image and I’m sure you can figure out how to change the feed it is pointing to…

Are you wearing enough flair?

I’ve added Kent’s flair to my site, just so I can be one of the cool kids in the class…

Saved up my pennies…

Oct 12, 2005 1 min.

I’ve been putting money aside for a few months now, to save up for an Xbox 360, and now I have sold my media center extender (the HP one), I’ve hit the magical number to be able to afford the ‘premium’ edition. I can’t afford any of the crazy bundles that are available for pre-order though, so I guess I’ll be waiting for a bit to pick one up after the release on November 22nd…
