Chris is on 10… Learn about Gnomedex with just enough time to get a ticket… maybe

Jun 12, 2006 1 min.

Chris Pirillo is on 10 today, chatting about Gnomedex, his tendency to write things on his chest, and more. I don’t know Chris myself, but I joined his “FatBlasters” mailing list awhile ago as part of my ongoing quest to lose weight… and also as a way to get emails from Chris in my Inbox every few days 🙂 Oooh, just noticed he has a Torrent setup for Vista as well, cool stuff

Jyve, a clear example of the new trend enabling individuals to work without a company

Jun 12, 2006 2 min.

I’ve been thinking lately that blogging, podcasting and video blogging (vlogging?) show how individuals are able to create content so easily that the wave of independent content producers are sometimes more powerful than the large organizations they are competing with. This is not a new thought, but what I saw today certainly made me think it again. Jyve is a Skype based app that lets individuals register themselves as experts in certain fields (French teacher, AJAX development, iPods, whatever) and then people can contact them (searching through Jyve’s directory of all the registered experts by topic) and start a Skype call (chat and email are also available) with them.

Well, that was a bit of a surprise

Jun 11, 2006 1 min.

One of my teammates just left the team … glad he cleared up some of the rumours as quickly as he did… it was a bit sad how quickly people came up with a list of Microsoft-bashing comments. Anyway, I wonder who is getting his new camera 🙂

Xbox 360 roundup: Blazing Angles, Rumble Roses and Tomb Raider

Jun 11, 2006 4 min.

I’ve recently taken a little break from playing Oblivion, which had been the only disc in my 360 for the past couple of months, and I decided to try a range of games. While working on our book, Xbox 360 for Dummies, I added every single 360 game to my Q on Gamefly.com, so I end up getting a random selection whenever I send back the previous game. This month, I returned Full Auto (interesting idea, combining guns and driving, but after playing PGR 3, Ridge Racer 6, and Need For Speed: Most Wanted… it just didn’t seem like my kind of driving game) and ended up with Rumble Roses XX.

Just got into Las Vegas, eBay and PayPal conference here I come…

Jun 11, 2006 1 min.

I just got to my hotel (the Aladdin) here in Vegas; ready to roam around the conferences looking for folks to film for Channel 9 (or 10, if the topic fits). Hmm… Vegas and a video camera… could be trouble. 🙂 If you are in town, email me or call me at the hotel, especially if you have an idea about something to film!

World of Warcraft Free Trial, giving drugs to a recovering addict

Jun 10, 2006 1 min.

If I told you that I was a recovering alcholic, would you offer me a drink? I doubt it, unless you are a real bastard. Well, Adam Kinney (my boss at on10.net) and I have been having many discussions about RPGs and MMORPGs (Oblivion, Asheron’s Call and WoW being the main topics). I told him that I used to play a ton of AC, but I found that it was a real drain on my time and that I finally had to quit it so that I could stop spending my nights up until 2 am playing… so what does he do?

A microphone made with podcasting in mind?

Jun 4, 2006 1 min.

I just found this article about a series of Heil microphones that work great for podcasting, although I’m sure they were made with any vocal application in mind… detailed info in the post, although I thought it was odd that I had to scroll all the way down to find the one single link to the actual microphone(s) being discussed.

Seattle Teenager talks about his popular Military History Podcast on on10.net

Jun 4, 2006 1 min.

My wife had read about this cool guy when working on a new article for Parent Map (“Help kids handle use of handhelds”) and I was intrigued, so Jesse and I took a trip over to Seattle and interviewed him for on10.net. It is a slightly different style of video than what you are used to from on10.net, but you can expect to see a wide variety of topics and styles on the site over time.
