Adventures in Zune Land

Oct 4, 2006 1 min.

Visited the Zune buildings today to film an interview for on10.net… I’d show you a few screen captures from the tape, but I had nothing to do with the camera work so I don’t have anything to grab from yet. Since I’m a bit of an Zune enthusiast, Laura and Jesse ran camera and I handled asking the questions of Matt Jubelirer, the Zune team member who was there to show me the device (three devices, he had one of each color with him!

Began a serious weight-loss program last week

Oct 2, 2006 2 min.

I’ve talked about losing weight before, and I managed to lose a fair bit via the South Beach diet about a year and a half ago, but my weight recently started creeping up again and I decided to do something ‘big’ to get on the right track (which is something I’ve considered before). So, on Tuesday of last week I had my official first appointment with a dietitian as part of the 20⁄20 program at the Pro Club, which included a weigh-in 🙂 .

Since my initial post on this upcoming game, I found the site www.halowars.com, which has (among other things) some great desktop wallpaper 🙂

Halo Wars on the Xbox 360

Sep 29, 2006 1 min.

Wow, very cool stuff. Another fun example of how little Microsoft employees know about Microsoft products (I learned about this game from gamespot!) but still, very exciting. Another RTS for the 360 too; I’m playing Battle for Middle Earth now so I’m looking forward to the idea of a second RTS to play from my couch! More details on Halo Wars, including trailers, available here.

Have you created an Avatar on Gravatar?

Sep 28, 2006 1 min.

Some people have great ideas, like Tom Werner’s Gravatar (Globally Recognized Avatar) site… a single place on the web to upload an avatar that any blog software can then retrieve using a fairly easily constructed URL. Neat stuff, I think I’ll add it to my site.

The EvNet team is on Channel 9 again

This time we are shipping the latest update to Microsoft 10, fun stuff… and an example of exactly how far from normal our team can be.

Categories vs. Tags in Blogs and Blog Editors

Sep 27, 2006 1 min.

I’ve been pondering categories vs. tags in blogs, in my sites (such as http://on10.net) we’ve completely done away with the concept of categories as distinct entities from tags, which works fine on the site but is causing me a bit of a headache when I look at blog editing and blog editing APIs. I’ve enabled the metaweblogapi on my sites so that standard blog editing tools like performancing, windows live writer, etc… can be used by our staff to post entries, and I’ve used the ‘categories’ area of that API to represent tags.

New favorite Xbox desktop wallpaper

Sep 26, 2006 1 min.

I went over to 360Style.net today to find that it has been totally redesigned… same great content, much easier to find your way around. While I was there I picked up a new background for my Vista box. The wallpapers that ship with Vista are beautiful, but they can’t compare with this…
