Soapbox Invites available from on10.net

Oct 13, 2006 1 min.

As you may have noticed, I’ve been playing with Soapbox lately and it is rocking. Yep, there are other sites out there, but I’ve been finding the quality (it is all flash video folks, but there is still a range of quality) of the videos I’ve uploaded to Soapbox to be a few steps above the other sites (or is it just site now that Google bought YouTube?). Laura Foy from on 10 went and interviewed the Soapbox team and managed to get a special link so that on10.

Connor Getting Out Of School

Video: Connor gets out of School For those of you who aren’t in my family… no worries… I’ll stop with the videos now 🙂 This video seems a bit choppy to me… although the source material was just as good as the previous ones… hmm…

Dig Dug hits the Xbox Live Arcade

Oct 11, 2006 1 min.

Fairly mixed response over on MajorNelson.com to this game, mostly either people who love it or people who are wishing we’d stop with the ‘retro’ games already… I’m a bit on the fence here myself, I like these games (Dig Dug, Time Pilot, Pac Man…) but I’m pretty disappointed that they’ve been left so … ‘pure’ … I mean, I think it would be cool to have an ‘original’ game mode that only uses a fraction of the pixels of my TV, but I would really like to see another mode (one that I think would be really popular) where the graphics really are on par with what we’d expect on a 360.

Well, it seems that will be less of a problem, thanks to the launch of the “Xbox Live Pipeline” an online site to let you dig around through the available marketplace content, complete with descriptions and preview images.

Yay Vegetables!

Oct 4, 2006 1 min.

Having finished my first week in the 20⁄20 weight loss program, and having lost 5lbs (or 2.7% of my weight, to put it in more relative terms), they’ve graciously allowed me to add veggies back in. Not too much of course, but a couple of cups of lettuce go a long ways towards making a chicken breast seem like a real meal.

Amazon Web Services talk in Winnipeg

Oct 4, 2006 1 min.

I love Winnipeg, but it doesn’t normally get all that many developer focused talks… so if you live there and you are interested in .NET based web development, you should really get down to this event. Winnipeg .NET User Group Winnipeg, Canada October 5, 2006 “Bleeding Edge Web Services” Come hear AWS evangelist Mike Culver showcase some thought-provoking new directions into which Web Services are headed.
