  • My weight loss results after 20 weeks

    Tuesday, March 27, 2007
In September of last year I signed up for the 20/20 program at the Pro Club, a 25 week weight-loss program that includes personal training, dietitian appointments and even group therapy (yay!). Well, I'm pretty much wrapped up on the program, and a few weeks ago they had me in to take measurements and a photo... they took a photo at the beginning as well, so we end up with the classic before and after comparision. Overall I lost 30 pounds, but that is only one number... I dropped six inches around my waist (so none of my pants fit), [read more...]
  • Something I'm working on for Channel 9 and on10.net...

Search based RSS... http://www.mscommunities.com/MixItUp/Search/Default.aspx?s=c9&q=TechFest set s=c10 (or s=on10) for searching http://on10.net instead, or remove it altogether to search both sites (using s or q twice won't work) q=<search term> .... multi word terms need to within quotes, like this;   http://www.mscommunities.com/MixItUp/Search/Default.aspx?s=c9&q="Visual%20Studio"   Thoughts? • My kind of use for a webcam

    Monday, March 26, 2007
I was on the blog of Tim Aidlin, a design evangelist in our same group, and I saw a post today about using a webcam and live messenger to see his new baby while he is at work. Of course, any use of technology for a family purpose ends up involving a certain amount of tech-hassle, but still... the outcome is worth it. [read more...]

  • Jetpac Refueled hits Xbox Live Arcade

    Friday, March 23, 2007
On Wednesday, a new Xbox Live Arcade game from Rare will be hitting the Marketplace... Jetpac Refueled. I have to say, from the moment we started shipping retro games onto the Xbox 360, this is what I've been waiting for. Not this game itself, I've never heard of it before to be honest (but wikipedia delivers the goods as always), but I always figured that the retro games would be re-developed to take advantage of the 360's graphics and sound... and this one has been. So, unlike Frogger, Pac Man, and Dig Dug... where I kept hoping to find a [read more...]
  • More on that 3-Day script I wrote...

    Wednesday, March 21, 2007
Darn script removing code on AOL! One woman, Nicolle, has a blog with AOL, but it won't let her add script to any part of the UI... or even into a post. The only way I could think of to try to work out a way around the problem was to make myself an AOL screen name and then an AOL blog and try to do the customizing myself... no go, they don't strip all script tags, but they only allow script tags that are pointing back at certain sites (such as AOL, I'm assuming). Any way, it was no [read more...]
  • Have you tried Amazon Unbox?

    Wednesday, March 21, 2007
I was interested, and I guess I still am, but I'm not sure yet... For one, they seem to be WMV files... protected with our standard DRM, but yet they don't use Windows Media Player to play them back? I'm not sure why this is, but if they supported playback in a normal video player then I'm pretty sure these videos would work through Media Center (and therefore my Xbox 360) without any hassle. As is, I think I'd be limited to watching them on my computer screen (which holds absolutely no interest to me) or perhaps on my iRiver [read more...]
  • Walking in the 3-Day and interested in promoting your donation page?

    Wednesday, March 14, 2007
My wife is going to be in the 3-Day walk for Breast Cancer and I thought it might be useful to build a widget to display your donation info on a website. So if you are going to walk in the event, or if you know someone who is, then you might be interested in this.   To get this    Just add this text to your page:<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.duncanmackenzie.net/ThreeDay.ashx?donationurl=http://www.the3day.org/Seattle07/lauramackenzie"></script> (replace the donation url with the link for the appropriate person... or leave it as Laura's :) )   Note that I haven't tested this with anyone else's page, so please [read more...]
  • Laura is going to do the Breast Cancer 3-day walk

    Wednesday, March 14, 2007
from their site: The Breast Cancer 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. Net proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust, funding important breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment. Laura will be walking for 3-days, and I'll be hanging out with the kids... we all must do our part :) If you'd like to donate to the cause, check out Laura's fundraising page where you can find out more info and/or sign up to donate whatever amount of money you feel comfortable with... • Zune Guest Hack, no more 'guest mode'

    Monday, March 12, 2007
Marshillboy from Zuneboards.com has posted a utility that lets you connect your Zune up to multiple PCs as if they were all the 'home' PC. Personally I like the idea, although the main benefit for me would be if it didn't show any UI... right now, the 'hack' pops up its own dialog in place of the Zune one... so I have to click 'Next' either way. Why would I want that? [read more...]
